Do you guys like the background picture I added to our homepage? I like the look of it but I want to find one that doesn't have the creator of the images name on it like how it faintly says "Shuttershock" across the background. Or maybe find a way to cover it up. I'm trying to figure out how to change the links on the left side of the page, too. I have my original resources but I'm going to wait to add them until I figure that out!
Ok I added some stuff to the homepage but it can be changed however you guys want I've just been testing some stuff out and I'll work on it more tomorrow! Do you guys have any ideas for what we should have as the image on the homepage? I put that "welcome to our health and wellness day" one on there just as an idea.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think one of the things we should agree on first is the context of our website. For example one of the sample websites started with "Our class has been working hard to create a dinner party..." and another started with "This unit is designed for use in a 3rd or 4th grade classroom..." How do you guys want to set it up? I kind of liked the first one personally but I will do either one! Just so all of our web pages sound and flow the same.
ReplyDeleteThe first one sounds good!
DeleteI am sorry I havent been on lately, this weekend was awful again! I am trying to get things worked out. This has not been my week.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one, that works well. Ill take a look at the website tomorrow and add stuff there. when is this due again? friday?
Our URL has to be posted by Sunday night. But if possible, we should try to finish it by Saturday night. Then, we can spend Sunday double checking and editing if we need to. Is that ok with everyone?
DeleteYes, I will try to get everything added ASAP! MY goal is to get most of it done tonight because I work doubles until 2 am tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. If not i'll have Sunday morning to finish everything up. We got this guys!
DeleteJessica, how did you enter subpages?
ReplyDeleteIm sorry things have been bad for you Kati, I hope everything is ok! I spent forever last night trying to figure out how to create page links that are listed under the "Home" link for each of our pages but all I could do was create "Subpages" under the "Home" page. I did that by clicking on the "Create Page" button next to the "Edit" button at the top right corner of our website. I was going to create a link for each of our pages to start. I'm going to try again tonight. Ill let you know what I figure out!
ReplyDeleteSo I finally found a way to create links for each individual webpage and add them to the sidebar on our website! So to edit just click on the link for your page and click the "edit" button with the pencil icon in the top right corner. I started a description of our project on the homepage so you guys can add to that! I figured it would be a good idea if each of us added a piece to the main description. Feel free to make changes to what I put to flow with whatever you guys add. Also, I noticed we didn't have a place for the Virtual Pen Pal assignment so I added it and a description with a link to the google doc on the "Cooking" page. Let me know what you guys think so far!
ReplyDeleteAnd do you guys have an idea for how I should incorporate the Google Map?
DeleteOn the storyboard we had the google map in the "Origins of Food" section so kids could compare where they got their food with other cultures
DeleteI moved the "Digestive System" page to the second link on our website because I forgot in my digestive system lesson plan I said that it was the 2nd lesson in our Nutrition unit after the topic of nutrition since it went along with learning about food and nutrients. Hope this works out for you guys!
ReplyDeleteAlso, since it looks like Taylor has Health Risks & Origins of Food, Kati has Nutrition and Exercise, and I have Cooking, Digestive System, & Health Fair; maybe we can all work on the "Health Fair" page instead? Does that sound good? Then well each have 2 and a little bit of the Health Fair page
ReplyDeleteI deleted one of the pages to make room for the health fair page, so Jessica I think you are only in charge of the Digestive System and Health Fair. I think I combined cooking and nutrition. Double check the Storyboard! I just don't want you doing any extra work (:
DeleteI already complete the cooking and digestive system pages

ReplyDeleteI just checked it out and it looks so good Jessica!!! Thank you! I will upload my stuff tonight (:
ReplyDeleteHow did you upload your digital story? I tried and it said my file was too large
ReplyDeleteI am trying to list the standards, but the page she has on eLearning doesn't work so I had to try to find the standards on a different page. I have a list going and I will upload it to the standards page and if you see any you want to add from your lesson plans and stuff, feel free! If anyone could edit the list too, that would be great.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing the standards Taylor! I uploaded my digital stories by going to "Insert" and all the way to the bottom right there is a "You Tube" option, i clicked on that and copy & pasted the you tube video link of my digital story. Was it saying your file was too large when you tried it that way? The website editing can be confusing it took a long time to figure everything out for me! Lol
ReplyDeleteHow did you change the font? I want the font to match on the standards page, but when I copied and pasted, it used the original font.
DeleteNo, I tried uploading it from the computer, but I figured it out by uploading it from YouTube. Thanks! Also, each page has to have an email attached to it as well as the author, should we all just use our group email for every page?
ReplyDeleteI have the day off today so I am going to work all day on this!
ReplyDeleteOMGOSH! the site looks GREAT!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI added my Lessons and my podcast. my ditigal story didnt work through youtube but ill add the saved copy through my computer and see if it works
ReplyDeleteDo we need to add the Concept map on there too?
ReplyDeleteYes, it goes on the homepage. We also need to upload it to the blog
ReplyDeleteHey guys, i hope everything is going well with your pages! Just a reminder make sure the pages all flow together and make sense with each others pages in terms of timeline and everything! Also, remember to add to the "Homepage" and "Health fair" page (ill still add some more too). I work until 1 am tonight and then 9am-midnight tomrrow so I will be finalizing everything Sunday morning and Taylor i'll help figure out the font stuff then!
ReplyDeleteOk, thanks! Also, on the health risks page, something was added, like a template of some sort, and I can't figure out how to remove it. If someone could help with that, that would be awesome
ReplyDeleteIll figure it out Taylor!

ReplyDeleteJust so everyone is on the same page, we are inserting our own stuff right? Like our websites and lessons? Also, Kati, don't forget to embed the concept map into the home page and add a few things to the home page and the health fair page as well (: If you need an idea for the home page, nobody has linked the blog and described it, so that is a possibility!
ReplyDeleteOk, is all the info on the pages on there correct? i feel like i am not adding enough. the final concept map is the one that goes on there?
ReplyDeleteDo we use the websites and include them on the website? Do we just list them or what?
ReplyDeleteHow do you embed the picture? the concept map, the picture itself?
ReplyDeleteI added it to the home page!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks good!! :) Emailing me is the quickest way to get ahold of me but i think its all done. let me know if were missing anything!
ReplyDeleteDid you add your websites you found into all of the pages? She doesn't want us to list the websites at the end, she wants us to write a little bit about them and then link them into the writing. Also, on the health fair page, include your lesson plan into the writing and write up a little bit about it. On the health risks page, you have two websites you wanted to add in the storyboard, but you haven't added them into the actual page. Double check the storyboard and use that as a checklist to make sure you have all of your stuff and we aren't missing anything (:
ReplyDeleteIf you could input the blog and write a little bit about that too, that would be helpful! Where did that one picture go on the home page?
ReplyDeleteGood job so far guys! Kati I hope you don't mind but I changed the wording on the Nutrition page around a little bit to match the rest of the pages! You did a good job explaining some concepts about nutrition but I made it so it is explaining how we taught the topic to students instead of just discussing nutrition. And yea we are adding in our own websites etc. And yeah we just need to make the pages so that it is like we are explaining how we executed our lesson plans to students so that another teacher could read and understand what and why we did certain things and use our unit.
ReplyDeleteKati, I also added one of my websites, Choosemyplate.gov, to your nutrtion page. That is an example of how we should be adding in our websites if you want to check it out!
DeleteAlso, the "Students Samples" link doesnt work on the nutrition page
DeleteWe still need to have the concept map added and add to the homepage description. I'll add the description for our collaborative podcast
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAnd make sure all of the pages have images! Not just videos
ReplyDeleteKati, I hate to have to tell you this but the "Exercise" page doesn't fit with the rest of the website :/ You list information on benefits of exercise etc. but it needs to be set up like your explaining to another teacher how we taught the lesson on exercise, how it fits in with our health fair concept, and include helpful links, websites, etc so that another teacher could do a similar lesson. Look at the pages that Taylor and I did for examples of how to set it up! I need to add my website link in for this page but i'll wait until you redo this page. Let me know if you need help!
ReplyDeleteMake sure all the parts from the storyboard are included to! Like: Training-- NEW ITEM OF INFORMATION (Visit from an athletic trainer or athlete). For example, my "New piece of information" on my cooking page was cooking safety...so I found a video on kitchen safety and added that in along with a paragraph describing the video and how we used the video
DeleteJust so you guys know...I have a list of things I still need to add and finalize for the site I am going to get back on around 6 to finish adding everything I just have a few things to do
ReplyDeleteOne of the things is...
Delete"• The opening page must contain a description of information that can be found on the web site. It is important to talk about project-based learning and the big project so when someone goes to your site they know what they will find."
I am going to discuss this could you guys give me some ideas for what else to put on the homepage please?
I tried to do some explaining of PBL on the home page, but we could also kind of map out the website and what each part is. We could explain how we used collaboration and technology to teach this topic rather than traditional methods of worksheets and textbooks.
DeleteThanks for all of your hard work Jess!
DeleteI had done a bunch of explaining on the Home page about PBL but now its not there...
DeleteI added some stuff about the PBL Jessica, so don't worry about doing that. What else do you have on your list?
ReplyDeleteThat description is perfect, thank you!!
DeleteYour pages look great, thanks for all of your hard work too!
ReplyDeleteMy list is:
1. Link the Collaborative Blog w/ a description (I wanted to figure out how to change the them of our blog but I still havent been able to)
2. Link each page with an email address
3. Make sure each of us has links to 3 new websites
4. finish up health fair page
I made sure I had all of my pages linked to the group email and I made sure I had 3 new websites, so thats done for me... What needs to be done to finish the health fair page?
ReplyDeleteOk thank you! Take a look at the health fair page and let me know if you like it and if it summarizes our final project well enough. Im thinking Kati's lesson on the food pyramid would work better on her Nutrition page. It doesnt really fit on the health fair page. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteI think thats a great idea, it fits better with nutrition
ReplyDeleteEverything looks good! I think now we just have to wait for Kati's stuff
ReplyDeleteI added to the exercise page and also added the concept map to the home page, can you look it over. thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe concept map and the exercise page looks good!! On the storyboard it says Kati has a lesson to put on the Health Risks page, but I don't see it yet
ReplyDeleteI started a small section on Diabetes, but if Kati could insert her lesson plan and a description that would be great. Then my pages are all set!
ReplyDeleteWhich lesson? Both of my lesson are used..
ReplyDeleteit just said kati's website. not a lesson.
ReplyDeleteOh, never mind, I must have misread it!
ReplyDeleteTaylor can you send me the link for your restaurant data collection lesson plan? The link for it isn't working on the Nutrition page I want to try to add it in there and see if it works
ReplyDeleteI had it linked to where it was opening a pdf of the lesson plan. I can attach the link in and lets see if that works better!
ReplyDeleteI attached the link under the word "lesson" and it worked for me!
ReplyDeleteThe Exercise page looks good but a lot of it still sounds like it is just giving information on benefits of sports. It needs to sound more like a teacher is telling another teacher how to run a lesson or how to teach the topic of exercise. I changed a few things to help but could you go through and fix that please? I just want to make sure the whole site sounds the same! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteOk awesome Taylor! The only links that arent working are the "Spreadsheet" link and the "Student sample" link on that page
ReplyDeleteKati, once you're ready to submit, let us know! I think Jessica and I have all of our stuff covered
ReplyDeleteI added pictures to the standards page
ReplyDeleteAll done. take a look. i hope its fixed.
ReplyDeleteCould you post the final concept map for Part B thats due tonight?
ReplyDeleteI think we should post the URL now, is that ok with everyone?
ReplyDeleteI am on it! Also, Does the map need to be a link or is the picture on the home page fine?
ReplyDeleteThe picture on the homepage is good
DeleteGood call on the pictures for the standards page! Everything looks good to me you guys! Taylor did you submit it or do you want me to?
ReplyDeleteI think its fine to just post a picture of the map Kati! If you would submit it Jessica, that would be awesome (:
ReplyDeleteYea I will right now!
DeleteThanks, we finally finished it!!!!
DeleteI left it alone. I just thought I read there needed to be a link on the home page for the concept map. I posted the concept map on a new post as well!!
ReplyDeleteWebsite is posted! Good job guys! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great team work this semester!!:)
